BOSTON¡ªMassachusetts is looking for ways swap the gas nozzle for the electric plug.
On Tuesday, officials from the state Department of Energy Resources plan to sign a memorandum of understanding with Nissan North America to explore ways to expand electric car use in Massachusetts.
Officials say they also plan to discuss the state's efforts to encourage the development of electric vehicle technology as part of an ongoing drive to curb greenhouse gas emissions in Massachusetts.
Gov. Deval Patrick has made lowering emissions and developing renewable energy sources one of the top goals of his administration.
The event at the Museum of Science in Boston will also feature Nissan's zero-emission, all electric car called the LEAF.
